Very Plain Bibs: Built to Ride, Not Pose 🚴

Very Plain Bibs: Built to Ride, Not Pose 🚴

There are two kinds of bib shorts in this world: the ones you reach for because you trust 'em, and the ones you leave hanging in the cupboard next to that motivational indoor trainer you used twice in 2021.

We wanted to make the first kind. So we did.

We call them the Very Plain Bibs because, well, they're black, simple, no flashy nonsense. But under the hood? These are five-star knicks built with obsessive attention to detail, Aussie stubbornness, and a refusal to play the overpriced Euro-fantasy game. You know the ones – brands that name their shorts after obscure mountain passes and describe them like they just solved cold fusion. 🧪 One even claimed their bibs were designed using "aerospace textile harmonics" – mate, it’s lycra, not a SpaceX suit.

Every Detail, Every Ride 🧵

We didn’t cut corners. We didn’t slap together a few fabrics, toss in a chamois, and call it a day. These bibs were built like a good Aussie coffee: carefully layered, ridiculously high-quality, and worth every cent.

  • The chamois? We tried over 50. Different positions, different saddles, different riders. We didn't stop until people said: "That’s the one."
  • The fabric? Sourced from the best mills in Europe. Durable, breathable, sleek. Not shiny. Not saggy. No unnecessary NASA tech claims either. 🌬️
  • The gripper? Stays put. Doesn’t strangle your thighs. Doesn’t ride up. You’d swear it was designed by a genius – not a marketing intern with a thesaurus. 🤏
  • The fit? Nailed. Long ride, short crit, pub detour after the ride – sorted.
  • The price? That was non-negotiable. Our rule: half the price of any bib that even thinks it’s in the same league. Not cheap. Valuable. Big difference.

Not Made to Impress Instagram, Made to Impress Your Butt 🍑

We didn’t bother with French names, marketing fluff, or invented fabrics that sound like a James Bond gadget. What we did do was build a bib short that’d take a beating, survive wash after wash, and still feel bloody brilliant three hours into your ride.

The result? A best-selling pair of cycling bib shorts that riders keep coming back to. Some of you told us, "Don't change a thing." Others gave us quiet little notes: "Hey, could the cuff be a touch grippier?" We listened. We always do.

About That Chamois... 💸

Let’s just say: this thing costs a small fortune. But it’s hands down the most comfortable chamois we’ve ever sat on. When we were testing, we didn’t look at price tags – we looked at ride feel. And guess what? The one everyone loved? The most expensive. Figures. So we just copped the cost and didn’t whack on a markup. Because what’s the point of building the best bike bibs in Australia if no one can afford them?

Other brands talk about their chamois like it's a family heirloom. Ours? Just quietly gets the job done while your backside thanks you.

Now? We’re Doing It All Over Again 🔁

You heard right. We’re back in the workshop, pads and prototypes everywhere, reinventing everything we thought we knew. The 2026 Prism Very Plain Bib Shorts are coming, and all bets are off.

  • Every assumption? Challenged.
  • Every detail? Retested.
  • Every stitch? Reconsidered.

We’re throwing the kitchen sink at these. Every bit of new tech, fabric innovation, and fit philosophy is going into this next-gen pair of mens cycling bib shorts and womens cycling bibs.

And yeah, we’re building them for women too – properly. Not a shrunken men’s fit. Totally reengineered to meet the different demands of our women riders. Because if you’ve ever ridden 100km in poorly fitted bibs, you know exactly why this matters. 🙅♀️

Still Plain. Still Black. Still Aussie as Hell 🇦🇺

We’re not trying to split the atom. We’re trying to make the best bib shorts you’ve ever worn. Bibs that feel better at the 100km mark than they did at kilometre zero. Bibs that become your go-to kit when the ride is big and your mates are fast.

Torture Testing: It's What We Do 🔧

Yes, we’ll torture test them. Just like we did last time. Long rides, hot days, cold mornings, post-ride bakery stops – you name it. 🥐 If it can survive a week of bunch rides and a full spin class next to a guy named Kev who smells like deep heat, it makes the cut.

When Can You Get 'Em? 🕰️

Like all good things: they take time. We’re looking at 12–18 months of prototyping, testing, and quality control. It's a labour of love. But we’re not doing this for a headline. We’re doing this so next time you’re reaching for your cycling bib knicks, there’s no decision to make. You just grab your Prism Very Plains and roll.

Until then, hang tight. Maybe even read a few other opinions:
